Fox Television Stations is one of the nation’s largest owned-and-operated network broadcast groups, comprising 29 stations in 18 markets and covering over 37% of U.S. television homes. This includes seven duopolies in the top 10 markets: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and Houston; as well as duopolies in Minneapolis, Phoenix, Orlando and Seattle.

JOB DESCRIPTIONPRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION:

Manage the day-to-day activities of the Production & Operations staff by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manager responsible for both shifts staffing schedules.
Ensure staff operates Station’s technical equipment in a proper manner.
Act as liaison with other departments.
Submit purchase orders to VP Engineering/Production for operational supplies.
The production & operation department’s central point person for assuring on-air broadcast quality control
Facilitate necessary cross-training wherever deemed appropriate, either within the Production Department or among Production, Engineering and Master Control operations.
With the VP of Engineering/Operations; prepares and drill for system failure and recovery. Address crew concerns and disciplinary issues promptly and consistently following HR and FOX policies.
Work with stations programming and traffic department to insure all programming scheduled programs and commercial spots are correct and available to air.
Provide pertinent operational information to staff when required.
Understand the importance of deadlines to meet departmental goals.
Advise VP Engineering with regards to preparation of annual production budget.
Schedule, review, and conduct quarterly meetings with staff.
Ensure proper reporting of equipment failures to the Engineering Department.
Available for Production Department issues, even when not specifically on duty including returning to work during off hours when necessary.
Respond to emergencies whenever needed.
Survey remote sites, coordinate production rundown.
Work closely with VP Engineering on operational issues, staffing requirements based on addition of new equipment and technologies for studio, control room, master control, and transmission/ingest.
Working with the VP of Engineering, responsible for production/operation department hiring
Demonstrate responsibility for any and all equipment issued by FOX.
Maintain and approve individual sick time, vacation, floating holidays and tardiness requests/issues.
Develop weekly QCR list.
Complies with all Fox Television Stations policies.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as the primary staffing and production/operation department liaison as they relate to Fox 32 newscasts.
Other duties as assigned.
Assist VP Engineering/Operation during scheduled and non-scheduled hours.
Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays.
Ability to work non-scheduled hours during breaking news.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

Regularly stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
