Performs unskilled manual labor in construction, maintenance, and service activities.

Works under the general supervision of Parks Maintenance Supervisor.

Sometimes designated as work leader on work projects.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

Assists in cleaning and maintaining parks, recreation facilities, landscaped areas, and other associated grounds and buildings.

Does a variety of grounds maintenance work; including mowing, weeding, tree and shrub trimming, policing parks, preparing ball fields, and related beautification and maintenance projects.

Operates light duty vehicles in picking up and delivering tools, materials, supplies, and transports employees to various job sites.

Performs minor construction, alterations, maintenance, and repairs on parks facilities and buildings.  Assists in the preparation of ball fields.

Responsible for maintaining, using, repairing, sharpening, and cleaning appropriate work tools.

Responsible for maintaining, preparing athletic fields for league and tournament play.

Performs all other duties as assigned by the Parks Maintenance Supervisor.

Minimum qualifications & Requirements

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
(a)      Good physical condition.
(b)      Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
(c)      Skill in the operation of listed tools and equipment.
(d)    Some knowledge of the general tools and equipment used in manual labor, lawn care, ball field preparation, etc.

Special Requirements
A valid drivers license

Light duty truck, lawn mower, lawn blower, edger, weedeater, and miscellaneous hand tools.
