Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center (SRSTC) is recruiting to fill a Custodian vacancy in Mauston, WI. We are offering a $2,000 sign-on bonus! More details below.
Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center opened in 2001 and houses Wisconsin’s Sexually Violent Persons Program. The goal of the center is treating and teaching patients with a history of sexual aggression toward the goal of providing a safe return to the community.
State of Wisconsin benefits include 3.5 weeks of vacation, 9 paid holidays, ample sick time, an exceptional retirement plan, and top-rated health plan. Low-cost insurance options start at $35/month for single plans and $87/month for family plans after two months of state service.
Work hours are Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 2:45 pm.
Position Summary
The Custodian is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to clean and maintain all areas of the Institution, including patient living quarters. Duties include, but are not limited to, operation of automatic cleaning equipment such as automatic scrubbers, sweepers, and wall washer; wet/dry vacuums and carpet cleaning equipment; mopping, stripping, and sealing of floors; cleaning of toilets, showers and furniture; shoveling snow; and replacing light bulbs. In addition, this position provides direction, training and monitors the performance of patient custodians.
Salary Information
The starting pay is $15.29 per hour, plus excellent benefits. A $2,000 sign-on bonus applies to those who do not have prior state service in the last five years and must stay with SRSTC for a minimum of one year to retain the bonus. Bonus will be split, $1,000 at hire and $1,000 after completing probation.
The pay schedule and range is 03/08. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.
Job Details
All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SRSTC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
All state employees are required to report their COVID vaccination status, whether they are vaccinated or not, and must provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment.
This position has physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting up to 50 lbs.; bending, twisting, crawling, and working on feet for sustained periods of time; and climbing on ladders. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will meet all of the following:
Ability to work Monday-Friday from 6:00am – 2:45pm.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions, and able to accept work assignment changes as needed.
Ability to follow proper safety standards when using chemical cleaning agents.
Ability to use cleaning tools and appropriate sanitizing procedures.
Ability to work cooperatively with others and using problem solving processes.
